About The Position

KalVista is seeking a highly motivated and versatile Associate Director, Corporate Affairs, to support and help build our corporate communications platform during a period of significant growth and evolution. This role is ideal for a strong communicator who combines excellent execution skills with sound judgment and a desire to grow alongside a company entering its next chapter. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs, the Associate Director will play a hands-on role across press releases, social media, internal communications, patient advocacy initiatives, executive presentations, and key message development. You will work closely with senior leaders, cross-functional partners, and external agencies to ensure communications are clear, consistent, and aligned as KalVista continues to scale as a commercial-stage, multi-asset rare-disease company. This role offers meaningful exposure, ownership, and the opportunity to help shape how KalVista tells its story—internally and externally.

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of experience in corporate communications, corporate affairs, public relations, or related roles; life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical experience strongly preferred
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience drafting content for multiple audiences and channels
  • Hands-on experience working with communications agencies and managing review and approval workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related field required
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and collaborate with senior leaders
  • Proactive solutions-oriented mindset with attention to detail
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and execute and executive while maintaining a strategic perspective

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in life sciences, biotechnology or pharmaceutical sectors
  • Experience supporting social media channels and digital content strategies
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint; strong working knowledge in Word, Excel, and SharePoint; familiarity with web platforms (e.g., WordPress) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of corporate communications initiatives that enhance KalVista’s visibility and reputation with employees, media, partners, investors, and the rare disease community
  • Draft, edit, and coordinate external communications materials including press releases, corporate statements, fact sheets, Q&A documents, and corporate presentations
  • Collaborate closely with external communications agencies; edit agency-developed communications content and manage internal review and approval processes
  • Maintain and manage the external communications calendar, ensuring alignment across Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations, Patient Advocacy, and functional teams
  • Monitor media coverage, industry news, and competitive activity; prepare summaries and insights for internal stakeholders
  • Support media relations activities, including coordinating interviews, preparing briefing materials, and responding to inbound media inquiries in partnership with leadership and agencies
  • Support execution of KalVista’s corporate social media strategy, including content planning, drafting, reviewing, posting, and monitoring
  • Serve as the internal owner of social media content approvals, ensuring accuracy, alignment, and compliance
  • Partner with internal teams to develop content supporting corporate milestones, culture, recruitment, and thought leadership
  • Assist with web and digital content updates, working with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed
  • Partner with People & Culture and senior leaders to support internal communications, including All Hands meetings, leadership updates, and organizational change communications
  • Draft internal announcements and presentations that translate complex information into clear, engaging, employee-focused messages
  • Collaborate with external agency to develop KalVista’s internal quarterly newsletter and maintain the company Intranet
  • Help ensure consistency and alignment between internal and external messaging
  • Collaborate on communications materials that span Internal and External Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, and Patient Advocacy, ensuring a cohesive narrative across audiences
  • Support patient advocacy initiatives, company-sponsored activities, and events by developing communications materials, messaging, and supporting content
  • Organize and track patient advocacy sponsorships in partnership with Commercial, maintaining centralized records, monitoring deliverables and compliance oversight
  • Assist in preparing materials for conferences, external engagements, and community-facing initiatives involving patient groups and partners
  • Support development of executive presentations, talking points, and key messages for Town Halls, investor interactions, conferences, and external engagements
  • Help maintain and evolve core corporate narratives and messaging frameworks as the company grows
  • Support conference and event logistics, including coordination with organizers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Help manage brand assets, templates, and style guides
  • Assist with communications operations, including budget tracking, invoice processing, media/news subscriptions, and distribution lists
  • Contribute to KPI tracking and reporting related to media coverage, social media engagement, and digital performance
