About The Position

Crooked Media is looking for an Associate Director, Audience Development & Analytics, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, to lead audience acquisition and retention strategies across RSS, video, social and subscription. We are proud to have a highly-engaged and constantly-growing audience of listeners, followers and subscribers, and we’re looking for an expert with a track record of growing and activating audiences and communities to help us find and implement winning strategies across all of our current platforms. We’re looking for someone who can assess where our audience is, where our obstacles and opportunities for growth are, and make recommendations as to the strategies and tactics that will help us reach the next level of growth. Key to the success of this role, and hence our growth, is this person’s ability to form working relationships with partners in content, marketing, subscription, etc., understand operational realities and work collaboratively to set goals and strategy in each area of audience growth. This role is based out of our Los Angeles and follows a hybrid schedule based on the job's needs. We are ideally looking for Los Angeles-based candidates or candidates willing to relocate within the first 3 months of accepting an offer.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years working within a creative organization using data to shape strategies and grow audiences
  • Proven track record developing and leading audience growth initiatives
  • Strong reporting background with tools such as Google Analytics, Shopify, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Megaphone
  • Experience with Data Analytics tools (such as Tableau), and knowledge of digital media data sources (platform analytics)
  • Excellent presentation skills (building decks, delivering information clearly in meetings)
  • Experience managing paid advertising/conversion campaigns
  • Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully
  • Highly organized and entrepreneurial in spirit
  • Management Experience: 2+ years of hands-on people management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Audit - spend time diving into our audience profiles and content across offerings, building a profile of where areas of opportunity are and which audiences and content will help drive growth
  • Strategy Development - work with existing teams on if and where we modify our audience strategies and optimize for growth, making content, publishing, workflow, marketing and promotional recommendations
  • Acquisition - manage campaigns to drive downloads, audience, subscription and ancillary revenue growth
  • Audience Development - strategy and tactics that will connect Crooked audiences across email, subscription, social, ecommerce, live events, RSS, audience retention and customer relationship management
  • Weekly and Monthly Reporting - manage weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting of social metrics and quarterly reporting and data vis for subscription podcast downloads and video performance and coordinate reporting across departments
  • Data Dashboard - manage the development and ongoing use of data dashboard with third party developer. Help onboard new users and build help automate reports that will help teams work with data more efficiently
  • Periodic Business Reviews - work with production, content marketing and social teams to develop performance reports for podcast hosts. Work with existing reporting templates but also recommend more effective and efficient ways of sharing data with talent and partners
  • Subscription and Video - become embedded with subscription and video teams as a stakeholder in growing audience and subs, attending weekly meetings, maintaining 1/1 relationships with team members and understanding all workflow and operational realities and challenges. You’ll collaborate with the leaders of each of these teams on an ongoing basis, to develop growth strategies but also on implementation, testing and optimizing of tactics
  • Marketing - work with marketing directly on paid promotional campaigns, on platform and campaign measurement and on continued campaign and messaging optimizations to drive growth
  • Senior Staff - work with senior leaders and strategy and workflow recommendations and on audience growth goals development
  • Finance - work closely with the finance team on KPIs, success tracking and budget management.
