About The Position

This Associate Designer position will provide design support for Men’s & Women’s Workwear (Denim and Non-Denim) This role is highly collaborative and has strong interface with partners in sourcing, technical development, and product management. This position will assist in building products that are required to meet unique consumer needs, company gross margin objectives, and the departmental line calendar. This position will report to the Director, Apparel Denim & Design.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years design experience with basic knowledge of product design, development and construction for outdoor, workwear, and/or denim categories.
  • Exceptional communication skills-verbal, written, and strong ability to communicate visually (key trend images, photographs, Adobe Illustrator sketches).
  • Positive learning mindset who is motivated, enthusiastic, and performs well in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to follow established processes
  • Ability to understand and design for multiple consumer segments and end use.
  • Detail oriented with outstanding follow-through.
  • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks and meet calendar deadlines independently of supervision.
  • Responsive to feedback and capable of adapting quickly to change.
  • Adobe Illustrator, PLM (Centric a plus), Lucid Spark/Miro

Responsibilities

  • Owning design development responsibilities for M/W Workwear Bottoms (Denim & Non-Denim).
  • Assisting designers with Illustrator b/w flat sketching, construction specs, embroidery thread specs, color CADs, presentation boards.
  • Assisting with fabric development and preparing denim wash briefs.
  • Assisting with sketch and BOM management for carryover and new products, including identifying sketch and BOM detail consistency for production.
  • Communicating and owning design comments and updates to vendors and factories.
  • Actively participate in trend research, building concept boards and bringing new ideas to the team.
  • Consistently research the market and competitors to identify business opportunities.
  • Leading trim development and handoff, maintain seasonal trim tracking, and partner with materials team and sourcing team to manage trim sample orders.
  • Issuing development packages to vendors including sketches, BOM, design reviews, sample requests.
  • Assisting in identifying variances in color, scale, stitching quality/SPI, measurement specs between design product/trim submits and the vendor’s samples.
  • Providing clear comments to vendors regarding garments, mock-ups, and trim submits.
  • Attending fit sessions and partner with tech team to update and align on product sketches and specs that need updating after fitting.
  • Taking on miscellaneous projects including sample management, line presentation, sales meeting preparation, design tools, BOM and sketch alignment, etc.
  • Assisting with other responsibilities based on business needs.
