About The Position

As an Associate Decision Scientist for the Strategic Analytics team, you will be responsible for conducting data analysis and supporting business analytics to help advance our capabilities and operate more effectively. This includes participating in scoping sessions, assisting in defining project requirements, executing data analysis, visualizing findings, and communicating insights to support business decisions. The Membership Strategic Analytics team performs advanced analytics, measurement, and decision support for the MyBBY Membership Program. This role will be focused on analyzing and reporting on strategies that help grow and improve MyBBY Membership Program. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, or similar field with quantitative rigor
  • 2 or more years of experience in business, analytics, or related area
  • 2 or more years of experience with analytics, reporting and/or database knowledge (using tools, applications and platforms such as SQL, Python or R)
  • 1 or more years of experience collaborating cross functionally with various business teams.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in scoping sessions and delivery meetings with business clients, documenting requirements, objectives, and specifications.
  • Tackle open-ended business problems with a strategic lens, offering creative, data-driven solutions.
  • Querying structured data and reports using SQL, Python or R.
  • Calculate variances and analyze trends with existing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Perform analytics using scientific methods that rely upon mathematics, statistics and hypothesis testing.
  • Perform data validation to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.
  • Translate data into visualizations by mapping data into graphical elements.
  • Create and package insights to business stakeholders in a non-technical, easy to understand manner.
  • Answer questions on dataset types and their limitations.
  • Collaborate with team members to share findings and recommendations.
