We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Dean of Faculty, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (Administrator III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. The Associate Dean of Faculty is a key member of the Dean's staff and plays an important leadership role in working with the Dean to advance the vision and goals of the College. Coordinates matters related to the search, recruitment, long-term success, and retention of faculty, including professional development of lecturers. In supporting the long-term success of faculty, this position promotes the development of faculty as teachers and researchers, collaborating with campus units such as the Faculty Development Center and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Serves as the Dean’s liaison for the College centers and institutes and manages evaluations. The Associate Dean of Faculty coordinates faculty related college committees and provides guidance on faculty related standards and policies. Guides the work of the HSS Cooperative on Justice, Equity, and Transformation and the Institute of Black Intellectual Innovation. Directs the process of part-time faculty evaluation, including the tracking of entitlement and completion of contracts. Working respectfully and cooperatively with faculty, the Associate Dean addresses faculty-related issues and department climate concerns and works with appropriate individuals toward resolution. Supports professional development for department chairs, works in collaboration with the College Administrative Resources Manager to ensure appropriate staffing across the College, and facilitates effective communication among department chairs and support staff. The Associate Dean coordinates submission of college schedules to the Scheduling Office and manages classroom allocation and other space needs. Serves as liaison to Central IT and represents the College on appropriate university committees. Other duties as assigned.
