The Dean of the college will work closely with both the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, and the Budget Analyst. The Dean’s scope of work is overall college management, outwardly focused affairs, and fundraising. Both associate deans’ scope of work is on day-to-day operations and inwardly focused affairs. Therefore, both associate deans will be available, in-person, to faculty, staff, students, and visitors for a substantial portion of each day. The Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will work to advance 1) outstanding undergraduate and graduate level teaching, 2) excellent undergraduate and graduate level academic programming, 3) impactful faculty research, 4) meaningful faculty service, and 5) effective faculty professional development. The Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will serve as the first point of contact in the Dean’s office for faculty teaching, research, and service inquiries/concerns, and for staff general inquiries/concerns. The incumbent is visionary and forward-thinking in their effort to create a more inviting, satisfying, supportive, and coordinated environment in which 1) the faculty can both serve ECS students with an excellent education, and advance their research agendas, and 2) the staff, reporting to her/him, can both serve ECS students with excellent service, and grow professionally. The Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will provide consultation to the Dean within the context of a variety of areas including but not limited to strategic planning, hiring, space management, external communications, and budgets. She/he will also work in coordination with the budget analyst, department chairs, faculty, and staff to support budget spending compliance and budget bookkeeping. The Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, along with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, will also be prepared to act on behalf of the Dean occasionally. The Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will collaborate with about 32 staff members who, collectively, serve about 65 full-time faculty members, 50 part-time faculty members, and 5,000 students. The College offers Bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, and offers Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Software Engineering.
