About The Position

Talent Vision is partnering with a public charter school to recruit an experienced and student-centered Associate Dean of ELA Curriculum and Instruction. This leadership role will drive a high-quality English Language Arts curriculum, strengthen instructional practice, and ensure alignment to standards across grade levels. The Associate Dean will collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and families to improve student outcomes, provide coherent professional learning, and support equitable, culturally responsive ELA instruction for all learners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience in ELA or literacy instruction and at least2–3 years in instructional leadership, coaching, curriculum design, or similar roles.
• Deep knowledge of ELA standards, literacy development, assessment systems, and evidence-based instructional practices for diverse learners, including multilingual students and students with disabilities.
• Proven experience leading professional development, coaching teachers, and implementing curriculum initiatives that improve student achievement.
• Strong data analysis skills with the ability to translate assessment results into actionable instructional plans and interventions.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills; commitment to culturally responsive practices, equity, and inclusive instruction.
• Experience selecting and evaluating curricular materials and integrating instructional technology to support literacy instruction.
• Familiarity with state standards, accountability systems, and program compliance; administrative or teaching certification preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated leadership, organization, and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous refinement of a rigorous, standards-aligned ELA curriculum that supports literacy development in reading, writing, speaking, and listening across grades K–8.
• Develop and oversee a comprehensive instructional framework and scope-and-sequence that incorporates grade-level standards, formative assessment practices, and differentiation for multilingual learners and students with diverse needs.
• Plan and deliver job-embedded professional development, coaching cycles, and instructional feedback for teachers focused on effective ELA pedagogy, use of student data, and evidence-based literacy strategies.
• Collaborate with school and district leaders to align ELA initiatives with broader school goals, including assessment systems, intervention models, and improvement planning.
• Analyze student achievement and assessment data to identify instructional priorities, monitor progress, and recommend targeted supports and interventions.
• Support teachers in planning high-quality instructional units, developing common assessments, and creating scaffolded materials and accommodations to ensure access for all students.
• Partner with Special Education and English Learner teams to ensure integrated, inclusive practices and compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Foster strong, culturally responsive relationships with staff, students, and families; communicate instructional priorities and student progress to key stakeholders.
• Manage and contribute to curriculum materials selection, piloting, and evaluation; recommend resources and instructional tools that enhance literacy outcomes.
• Serve as an instructional leader in schoolwide professional learning communities, grade-level teams, and leadership meetings; support recruitment, onboarding, and development of ELA teachers.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting related to curriculum initiatives, program compliance, and grant or programmatic requirements as applicable.
