About The Position

The San Bernardino County Museum is seeking an Associate Curator of Education to support the Curator of Education in overseeing the museum's educational programs, school tours, and special events. This position will collaborate with the exhibits team to ensure interpretive materials are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with state content standards for diverse learning levels and styles. The Associate Curator of Education will also assist in managing the museum's volunteer program-recruiting, training, scheduling, and coordinating volunteer activities-and may contribute to grant proposals and external marketing efforts that promote the museum's educational mission.

The San Bernardino County Museum is located in Redlands, and was founded in 1952. The San Bernardino County Museum contains exhibits and collections in cultural history and natural history. Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check which includes fingerprints, medical exam, and review of employment history.

Availability: Incumbents will be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. Employees will be required to make provisions for transportation and may be required to use personal vehicles (mileage reimbursement is available). At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.

Requirements

• EDUCATION: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Museum Studies, or closely related field.
• EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience managing educational programs and/or teaching in a museum, art center, community center, or school.
• Experience must include the design and development of informal learning experiences for children and/or adults, which includes hands-on learning components.
• Travel throughout the County is required.

Nice To Haves

• The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in Education and/or a teaching credential, or a degree in Museum studies with an emphasis on Education.
• Experience interacting with children and adults in a museum setting is also highly desired.
