About The Position

The Associate Counselor position is responsible for assisting individuals, in accordance with their treatment plan, with mental health and/or substance use disorders to improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments under close supervision of a Qualified Addiction Professional. This role is vital in enabling clients to achieve their personal recovery goals. You'll work within a collaborative team focused on empowering individuals to improve their lives. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or high school diploma/equivalent required.
  • A trainee that meets the requirements for registration, supervision, and professional development as set forth by either: The Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc., OR The appropriate board of professional registration with the Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions, and Professional Registration.
  • Associate Counselors must be supervised by a Qualified Addiction Professional who has completed MCB Clinical Supervision Training.
  • Current driver’s license in state of residency, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • First Aid certification within three (3) months of beginning employment and upon renewal date.
  • CPR certification within three (3) months of beginning employment and upon renewal date.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the screening/assessment process under the supervision of a licensed/qualified counselor or therapist within appropriate time frames as designated by State Regulatory/accrediting body/agency standards.
  • Develop treatment plans for clients in accordance with State Regulatory/accrediting body guidelines that demonstrate evolution and individualization based on information gathered from assessments under the supervision of licensed/qualified therapists.
  • Facilitate group counseling, group education, family conferences, and individual sessions, focusing on attitudes, feelings, behaviors that promote recovery, healthy decision making, and improved problem-solving skills.
  • Document all services provided in accordance with State Regulatory/accrediting body/agency standards, ensuring services are entered within the appropriate time frame.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with referral sources, clients, and coworkers while adhering to the Code of Ethics and agency policies.
