About The Position

The Associate Controller is a high-impact role within the finance organization at True Independent Holdings, serving as a key partner to the CFO and supporting Controllers across both digital and traditional media agencies. This position provides hands-on support across accounting operations, financial reporting, and cash management. The Associate Controller will build deep knowledge across multiple agencies and be prepared to step into support Controllers as needed, ensuring continuity and scalability of the finance function.

Requirements

  • 1-3+ years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-business environment preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP system highly preferred
  • Experience in agency, media, or similar service-based industries preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary support resource to the CFO across financial operations, reporting, and strategic initiatives
  • Partner with the CFO to drive consistency, discipline, and best practices across all agencies
  • Assist in reviewing financial performance, identifying risks, and supporting decision-making
  • Support Controllers across multiple agencies, including both digital and traditional media businesses
  • Provide hands-on assistance with: Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • General ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
  • Journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Step in to support or backfill Controller responsibilities during absences, transitions, or periods of high demand
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data across multiple entities
  • Lead for balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, AR, AP, prepaids, accruals, and credit cards
  • Support revenue recognition and cost alignment related to media activities
  • Review financial data and reconcile discrepancies across systems and reports
  • Support media billing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Assist in reconciling client billing, vendor invoices, and media activity
  • Support accounts receivable tracking, collections, and aging analysis
  • Help monitor working capital, including timing of receivables and payables
  • Assist with cash reporting, cash flow analysis, and short- and long-term cash projections
  • Support monitoring of cash activity across agencies, including inflows and outflows
  • Assist in managing liquidity and identifying cash-related risks or opportunities
  • Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and gathering supporting documentation
  • Work with Controllers to ensure timely and accurate audit deliverables
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Support accounting operations within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or similar ERP systems)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Assist with system transitions, integrations, and reporting enhancements
  • Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to eventually step into a Controller role
  • Build cross-agency expertise to ensure continuity of operations
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as appropriate
