About The Position

Teach For America Greater New Orleans seeks a part-time Elementary (Grades 1-5) Content Facilitator for its initial teacher preparation program. The Content Facilitator will design and facilitate twelve months’ worth of synchronous and asynchronous sessions in alignment with the state-approved Elementary 1-5 Course Syllabus. The Content Facilitator will facilitate three (3) hours of synchronous professional development per month, primarily virtually via Zoom, but with the possibility of some in-person sessions (New Orleans). Additionally, the Content Facilitator will design up to three (3) hours of asynchronous literacy coursework per month in alignment with the TFA-provided course syllabus. Additionally, up to two (2) hours per month will be required for the Content Facilitator to grade session deliverables and assessments, provide feedback to teacher candidates (corps members), and provide options for remastery. The ideal candidate is an alum of Teach For America and a current teacher or school leader. They have strong organizational skills, an orientation towards relationship building and supporting others, and are a strong steward of the values of Teach For America.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 5+ years of classroom teaching experience in the applicable content area
  • Quantifiable success as a classroom teacher, with demonstrated success in reaching Broader Student Outcomes
  • Strong understanding of early teacher development and foundational knowledge/understanding/orientations that lead to strong student outcomes
  • Belief in and understanding of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
  • Previously demonstrated skills and belief in building relationships across lines of difference, connecting to adult learners, and creating and contributing to a strong culture
  • Strong organization, time management, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to make adjustments and be flexible in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Enjoys being a part of a collective coalition striving for rigorous development of teachers to reach equitable outcomes for kids
  • Committed to developing themselves, others, and the broader institute community through intentional engagement, reflection, and feedback
  • Adeptness with Zoom and other virtual platforms
  • Ability to work weekend and evening hours

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience facilitating adult learning

Responsibilities

  • Use the state-approved course syllabus and LDOE content module resources to design synchronous and asynchronous sessions (up to 6 total hours worth of content per month in alignment with the course syllabus) for use as Teach For America’s Elementary 1-5 curriculum in perpetuity
  • Plan, prepare for, and facilitate three hours of synchronous professional development each month, beginning in June and ending in May (primarily virtually via Zoom but with the potential for a few in-person sessions)
  • Provide TFA staff with content for asynchronous sessions one month prior to their launch date
  • Score and provide feedback on session deliverables as indicated in the course syllabus
  • Score and provide feedback on asynchronous sessions
  • Provide options for remastery as necessary
  • Be available to teacher candidates for questions or support needed
  • Participate in check-ins with TFA staff as requested
  • Provide TFA staff with documentation regarding teacher candidate attendance, participation, and mastery
