The Opportunity: HKA is seeking an Associate Consultant for our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office to begin or continue their career in Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages Consulting. This entry-level role supports Senior team members, partners and experts through research, financial modeling, analysis, and report preparation. The work focuses on matters including but not limited to insurance claims, business interruption, lost profits, intellectual property, investigations, and related disputes. This is a hybrid role, requiring 2–4 days per week onsite in our Pittsburgh office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related major from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in finance, accounting, consulting, or a closely related role
  • Academic or professional exposure to one or more of the following areas: Commercia/economic damages analysis and dispute support, Business valuation modeling and analysis, forensic accounting or business investigations
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Expertise in data analytics including experience with SQL or other database tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to review, synthesize, and summarize complex information

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or CFE credential or in process.
  • Experience contributing to Expert Reports and other litigation support responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the collection, organization, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Conduct financial and economic analyses, including building and maintaining complex spreadsheet-based models
  • Assist in the preparation and production of expert reports and supporting documentation
  • Communicate regularly with internal team members and client liaisons
  • Clearly and concisely communicate analyses and findings in written and verbal formats
  • Manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously using strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Work collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality of client information and work product
  • Proactively seek guidance and feedback—asking for help is expected and encouraged
