About The Position

Gerber Ciano Kelly Brady is seeking a motivated and experienced Construction Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience practicing construction law and handling a broad range of construction-related disputes and transactional matters. This position requires a high level of initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage matters from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, practical problem-solving abilities, and clear, professional communication. The attorney will work collaboratively with attorneys across the firm’s footprint and interact directly with clients, contractors, and industry professionals. Requirements

  • Admission to practice in the State of New York is required (Admission to practice in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is a plus).
  • At least 5 years of experience practicing construction law.
  • Demonstrated experience with construction contract drafting and review.
  • Proven experience handling mechanic’s liens, bond claims, and construction-related disputes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex legal and technical issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating effectively with team members.

  • Admission to practice in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction-related contracts and agreements.
  • Handling mechanic’s liens and bond claims, including performance bond and payment bond issues.
  • Managing claims involving changed conditions, unforeseen site conditions, and scope disputes.
  • Representing clients in disputes involving wrongful termination, abandonment, acceleration, delay, lost productivity, and liquidated damages.
  • Addressing claims related to defective plans, specifications, and design issues.
  • Assisting clients with bid protests and procurement-related disputes, when applicable.
  • Advising clients throughout all phases of construction projects to mitigate risk and resolve disputes efficiently.
  • Managing deadlines, filings, and procedural requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships through responsiveness, strategic guidance, and adherence to client guidelines.
  • Accurately recording and maintaining billable hours while ensuring all deadlines are met.
