About The Position

Practice Overview: Ankura’s Construction Disputes & Advisory, Professional Liability & Defective Construction (PLDC) expert team, consisting of Architects, Engineers, and Contractors, perform various technical analyses, typically related to commercial construction disputes, and present our findings in visual presentations and expert reports for mediation, dispute resolution boards, arbitration panels, and in court for judges and juries. Our professionals assist in contemporaneous and after-the-fact evaluations of Design and Construction Deficiencies and Defects, Water Infiltration and Intrusion, Standard of Care (of Architect, Engineer, and Contractor), project close-out, change order entitlement, punch list and inspection content, evaluation of defective work and remedial repair protocols, among others. Role Overview: Ankura’s Construction Disputes & Advisory PLDC practice is seeking an Associate to support our primary testifying experts on high-profile construction disputes, claims, and litigation matters, focusing on design and construction defect analysis and Standard of Care for Architects, Engineers, General Contractors and other parties. Value Proposition: This role offers the opportunity to experience a wide range of commercial construction projects across the country that are involved in multi-million dollar disputes. Providing support to a team of experts across various construction disciplines to solve dispute and litigation challenges. This position can be located near an Ankura office anywhere in the U.S., with a strong preference for candidates who would be willing to be present in the Philadelphia Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Some experience in construction, engineering or architecture with an interest in consulting.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate working towards professional certifications (PE, RA, CCM, or equivalent) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in data-gathering activities including document review and preparing technical work product.
  • Assist with detailed, after-the-fact evaluations of Design and Construction Deficiencies and Defects, Water Infiltration/Intrusion, and Standard of Care for general contractors and design professionals.
  • Support the Testifying Expert in their preparation for depositions, mediations, and trial, presenting complex technical and causation findings in a clear, concise, and objective manner.
  • Support forensic analysis of pertinent design and construction documentation to determine contractual liability and cause-and-effect relationships between project events and alleged defects.
  • Support engagement work planning, proposals, budgeting, and client communications for senior-level review.
