About The Position

The Associate Chief Nurse for Patient Care Services provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing and patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with Craig Hospital's mission, vision, and Magnet standards. The position oversees clinical practice, staff development, and resource allocation for multiple service areas, including inpatient nursing, outpatient nursing, clinic operations, nurse advice line, urology, nursing and patient education, and wound care. This position must ensure nursing department compliance through audits and oversight with federal, state, and local regulations and maintain compliance with Magnet, Joint Commission and future professional standards.

Requirements

  • Current Colorado RN license and current BLS for the Health Care Provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • A Masters in Nursing (MSN) or relevant field is required. A graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university is required; CCNE or NLNAC accredited school preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in nursing is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive nursing leadership experience, including inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical operations, staff development, and quality improvement.
  • Leadership supporting Magnet standards, shared governance, and evidence-based practice.
  • Experience ensuring Joint Commission readiness, compliance, and survey support.
  • Knowledge of CMS, state, and specialty accreditation requirements.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation nursing and specialty services (SCI/BI care).
  • Excellent organization and customer service skills.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and change management skills.
  • Behaviors demonstrate a caring and supportive leadership style.
  • Successful experience with team-building, conflict resolution, and communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  • Ability to delegate and/or interpret work expectations for a group of workers, assigning and monitoring specific duties to them, maintaining harmonious relations among them and promoting efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour accountability for nursing operations across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with the CNO and executive leadership to align nursing services with organizational goals, quality improvement initiatives, and Magnet designation requirements.
  • Foster a culture of safety, inclusivity, and excellence in patient care.
  • Oversee inpatient nursing units, ensuring optimal staffing, workflow efficiency, and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Oversee outpatient nursing and clinic operations, including coordination of advanced practice providers and specialty services.
  • Ensure effective functioning of the Nurse Advice Line for timely patient support and triage.
  • Provide leadership for urology services, ensuring integration with rehabilitation and specialty care.
  • Supervise wound care programs, promoting best practices in prevention and treatment.
  • Lead nursing and patient education initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and patient engagement goals.
  • Support continuing education and competency development for nursing staff across all service areas.
  • Monitor performance metrics, patient outcomes, and satisfaction scores; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards, including infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Manage budgets for assigned departments, optimizing resource utilization and cost-effective care delivery.
  • Participate in strategic planning for staffing models and operational improvements.
