About The Position

Participate in the quality assurance program of the radiation therapy department, including but not limited to: Carry out ongoing quality assurance (QA) procedures for x-ray generating equipment. Carry out patient-specific QA and in-vivo dosimetry. Complete patient checks. Confer with radiation oncologists on radiation treatment design and radiation dosimetry. Provide input on calculation of radiation doses, design and fabrication of treatment aids and assurance of the accuracy of all treatment parameters. Participate in CT simulations and assist the radiation oncologist by providing input regarding treatment techniques and patient positioning. Communicate planning instructors with the radiation oncologists, radiation therapists and the physics team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Science is required.
  • Must have completed residency training, or be in the process of completing residency training, in a CAMPEP-accredited program.
  • Must be eligible to sit for the American Board of Radiology exams in therapy medical physics, or board exams considered to be equivalent.
  • Willingness to participate in the ongoing quality assurance program.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, consistency, and meets multiple deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Exhibits an enthusiasm to learn about all aspects of radiation therapy medical physics in academics and patient care.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates the ability to act as a self-starter and has the willingness to take on new and challenging leadership roles, as well as non-leadership projects and deliverables.
  • Must be flexible enough to work with department leaders, as well as physicians and administrative leaders.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and can effectively articulate the outcome of an assignment, along with any recommendations.
  • Is professional in all aspects of an assignment, knowing they represent the department, but also has a lighthearted personality that blends well with the administrative team.
