About The Position

The Associate Clinical Application Analyst acts under supervision and requires instruction and guidance. This position is responsible for production support, system implementation, and upgrades for IT Services. The Associate Clinical Application Analyst will maintain (with assistance from Senior Analysts) the creation/modification of security templates and sub-templates within the Epic applications. This position will work with other IT Services analysts to provision new users, transfer users, Workday students, shared security, and other miscellaneous user types, with a focus on handling the entire SER record process, including but not limited to setup, provisioning, modification, and termination of records. Position participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, or related field plus 2 years of IT experience, clinical/operational experience, or any combination of the two or High School diploma/GED plus 4 years of IT experience, clinical/operational experience, or any combination of the two required.
  • Epic Security Certification – Must currently be certified or obtain within 6 months of UAMS-sponsored training.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with two or more of the following: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software), SharePoint, Box.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify process objectives.
  • Defines system and user workflows to illustrate the sequence of steps needed and describe logical operations involved.
  • Converts user specifications into functional specifications.
  • Assists with the development of implementation plans and advanced communication to all impacted stakeholders regarding scheduled system updates/upgrades.
  • Adequately tests all system changes and builds to appropriately mitigate or eliminate system risks and adverse effects.
  • Facilitates communication and acts as a primary liaison between teams, users, and vendors.
  • Provides regular feedback to Team Lead and/or management on the status of work responsible for or assigned.
  • Ensures co-workers and operational end users are notified of changes/additions to the software system.
  • Shows understanding and is receptive to business needs conveyed by operations.
  • Respects and follows governance processes, mandates, and associated tools.
  • Able to clearly communicate and document system capabilities and constraints in response to change requests.
  • Reviews and writes clear documentation to describe system processes, installation, and operating procedures.
  • Assists with the development of training materials to meet educational requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation, audit trails, and change control in accordance with UAMS and IT Services’ policies and procedures.
  • Uses cognitive reasoning skills, appropriate level of application knowledge, and experience to research problems in order to determine the root cause, potential solutions, and recommendations for resolution.
  • Appropriately evaluates the relative priority of requests, keeping in mind factors such as patient safety, regulatory requirements, and deadlines, as well as the effectiveness of alternative interim solutions.
  • Documents issues and initiates issue tracking.
  • Reports problems or issues to software vendors or other departments as appropriate.
  • Monitors and oversees the progress of the software vendor or other departments to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Meets escalation expectations when objectives and deadlines are at risk.
  • Maintains clear communication with end users, as well as IT Services and operational leadership, to receive appropriate governance approvals and keep relevant stakeholders informed of issue status and expected resolution dates.
  • Works within cross-functional teams and with end-users to achieve application integration to meet clinical needs.
  • Works to continually develop and learn integration between applications.
  • Shares knowledge with other team members, other teams, and operational stakeholders.
  • Actively participates in team and cross-team meetings using effective communication skills.
  • Takes an active role in collaborating with system security team members in creating and maintaining role-based access specifications.
  • Ensures that the application security structure meets organizational, regulatory, and audit requirements regarding segregation of duties, HIPAA, and the scope of practice.
  • Completes assigned tasks associated with projects by the deadlines specified.
  • Assists in complex application upgrade initiatives.
  • Assists in the assessment and documentation of user needs.
  • Assists in the investigation of solution options.
  • Participates in the functional evaluation of new or upgraded software applications.
  • May be asked to develop testing plans, organize, and lead testing groups that consist of users and other IT Services staff.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of appropriate documentation according to the upgrade Quality Testing policy, project management methodology, and other policies of IT Services and UAMS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
