About The Position

We are seeking an Associate to join Cigna Ventures, the strategic venture fund of The Cigna Group. This highly motivated self-starter will support the team in a variety of capacities across sourcing, evaluating and executing investment opportunities, engaging portfolio companies, and overall fund administration. Additionally, the Associate will interact extensively with internal business leaders and key stakeholders across The Cigna Group to drive strategic alignment and post-investment execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in consulting, venture capital, and/or investment banking (background in healthcare services preferred)
  • Detail-Oriented: self-starter with ability to successfully operate in a fast-paced, complex environment
  • Critical Thinking and Intellectual Curiosity: superior research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Highly Collaborative: successfully operate across multiple work streams and levels of leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to quickly gather and synthesize information into clear, concise, and actionable messaging.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders
  • If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and Pipeline Proactively identify new investment themes and develop/maintain relevant strategic theses to guide sourcing efforts
  • Develop strong relationships across The Cigna Group to understand strategic priorities and initiatives
  • Own and improve data-driven processes for managing our deal pipeline
  • Qualify opportunities according to Cigna Ventures’ criteria via initial contact, data gathering/assessment, and establishing relationships with founders
  • Due Diligence Evaluate and assess information from potential companies and internal/external experts
  • Lead key parts of rigorous investment diligence (e.g., market, financial and valuation analysis)
  • Draft highly polished investment memos and other materials
