About The Position

The Associate CNO, Perioperative Services is a key leadership position within the organization’s perioperative department, responsible for clinical oversight and operational performance across all perioperative areas. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care while optimizing efficiency and resource utilization. The role partners with surgeons, nursing, anesthesia, and administrative leaders to achieve departmental goals and uphold the organization’s standards of excellence, with accountability for quality outcomes, throughput, and financial stewardship.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required. Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • BLSHCP required.
  • Extensive experience in surgical services, with a minimum of 5-7 of progressive perioperative leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership to perioperative teams, setting clear expectations and driving a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the hospitals organization’s overall goals and objectives for Surgical Services.
  • Provide clinical, financial, and operational leadership across the Surgical Services service line, ensuring safe, high-quality care and efficient resource utilization.
  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures to enhance the effectiveness and safety of surgical services.
  • Partner with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and key departments to optimize patient experience, throughput, and efficiency of surgical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards, such as those set by The Joint Commission (TJC) or other governing bodies.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and manage the operating room budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with finance, service line business leaders and administrative teams to analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for revenue growth and expense reduction.
  • Ensure recruitment, training, and mentorship for perioperative staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with education and training departments to ensure ongoing education and skills development for the surgical team.
  • Stay abreast of advances in surgical technology and equipment, making recommendations for upgrades and improvements.
  • Collaborate with the hospital's IT department to ensure the smooth integration of technology into surgical processes.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary workflows to ensure seamless perioperative patient care and timely handoffs across departments.
