About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking an Associate Chemical Technologies Engineer for the 787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston, SC. This role involves defining engineering requirements and selecting or recommending parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems to support product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations. The engineer will plan and execute qualification activities for new materials, parts, processes, and suppliers, including test programs and audits. Responsibilities also include performing failure and performance analyses to identify root causes and recommend corrective or preventive actions, and managing test programs and supplier qualifications to ensure compliance. The position requires applying project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule objectives, and integrating environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into materials/process design, research, qualification, procedures, and laboratory/office operations. Collaboration with design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other engineering teams is essential to support product development and production readiness. Maintaining technical records, specifications, and reports to support audits, certifications, and continuous improvement efforts is also a key part of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 1+ years’ experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications related to chemical finishes and corrosion protection for aerospace applications

  • Experience with aerospace organic and inorganic finishes
  • Experience with aerospace chemical coating technology
  • Experience with chemical coating material qualification
  • Experience analytical lab practices (FTIR, GCMS, environmental testing)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities
