Through Safety first, the Associate Buyer will be responsible for supporting purchasing activities to achieve cost targets and working capital targets for assigned commodity groups and strategic projects, as well as managing the supply base. This role requires a high degree of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality. Requirements

  • Entrepreneurial Passion.

  • General understanding of plant equipment and operations.
  • Associates degree and/or Certification in Supply Chain Management considered.
  • Requires 2+ years of experience in purchasing area.
  • Must be passionate toward implementing and enhancing the growth and development across all areas of responsibility.

  • Commitment to best practices developed by Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills especially Excel required.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems required.

  • Presentation skills - speaks with confidence in a variety of settings - one on one, small and large groups. Can get messages across that have desired effect.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the strategic purchasing activities of others.
  • Develops an understanding of the capabilities of existing supply base to facilitate the day-to-day management of commercial matters.
  • Participates in cross-functional and continuous improvement activities.
  • Data gathering, analysis, and report preparation as required.
  • Execution of assigned purchasing projects.
  • Prepare purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Daily purchasing and material expediting, when needed.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
  • Recognizes and initiates changes when business conditions warrant it.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of current laws and regulations that affect the business environment.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Respects plant and company ethical values and policies in dealing with suppliers and customers.
  • Negotiates innovative solutions to deal with problems and opportunities.
