Newtek Insurance Agency, is a retail and wholesale brokerage insurance agency licensed in all 50 states, specializing in the sale of commercial and health/benefits lines insurance products to the SMB market as well as various personal lines of insurance. As an Associate Business Services Specialist - Commercial Lines I, you will be responsible for qualifying opportunities and supporting the Commercial Lines sales team throughout the underwriting process, helping to meet the monthly and annual revenue goals established by management.

Requirements

  • High school or GED with equivalent experience with minimum of 6 months of working in the insurance industry at a brokerage, large insurance agency or carrier with exposure to multiple lines of business. College degree preferred.
  • Valid Property and Casualty License (P&C) and provide copy for file or must be attained within 6 months of hire.
  • Self-motivated, passion for sales and goal oriented.
  • Proactive, quick learner, focused, organized and thorough with all work.
  • Possess a sense of urgency and ownership when dealing with clients and prospects of Newtek.
  • Comfortable with speaking on the phone, engage in daily client contact and can make 50-75 outbound calls per day to contact clients to review policies and coverages.
  • Comfortable with being on camera while engaging with clients, attending company/department meetings, etc. as required.
  • Ability to actively listen and understand customer's business needs (both spoken and implied).
  • Attention to accuracy and detail in processing information.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and act with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Good time management, planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Gain a level of competency in Windows based computer applications (Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and internal systems such as NewTracker, AMS360, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Sales Support role in insurance (P&C) position a plus.
  • Knowledge of sales and insurance implementation of general liability, property, business owners, workers' compensation, auto liability, umbrella) a plus.
  • Exposures to additional P&C coverages including but not limited to: Product Liability, Professional liability (Errors and Omissions), Directors and Officers liability, Builder's Risk, Crime, Cyber, Flood, Bonds, Employment Practices Liability, Disability, Employee Benefits, Hired and Non-Owned Auto, Special Events, Pollution/Environmental, Construction, Trucking, Inland and Ocean Marine, Cargo, Garage Keepers, etc. a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets
  • Learn and achieve the ability to read policies and break down coverage.
  • Learn and achieve a good understanding of the appropriate markets and their relative business model.
  • Gain a good level of knowledge of company products and solutions a plus.
  • Knowledge of how to use Agency Management System, experience with AMS360 a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Outbound call Newtek Customers and start the fact-finding process.
  • Engage with clients building a rapport via phone w/video, email, and/or text
  • Complete the discovery form by gathering the client's information.
  • Ensure the discovery form is completed accurately and is included in the submission packet for the underwriting process.
  • Qualify opportunities for the Commercial Lines sales by calling into the sales queue.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Lines sales team and assist in the follow-up of prospects during the sales process to keep them informed every step of the way.
  • Maintain compliance reports to focus on daily tasks.
  • Meet monthly metrics established by management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and decision makers at the businesses with strong phone skills.
  • Update and maintain integrity of data within sales tracking systems following Newtek process and procedure.
  • Contact every prospect at least every 3 days and make substantive and diligent efforts to contact every client.
  • Participate in management directed campaigns.
  • Create accounts in ImageRight and prepare documents for marketing to quote.
  • Must submit accurate and complete files to the BSS.
  • Assist with collecting payments and obtaining signed documentation as needed.
  • Provide assistance with the BSS functions if the BSS is out of the office.
  • Continue to grow your knowledge of the insurance industry via webinars, sales training, networking, self-study, etc.
  • Monitor all referrals to ensure a great customer experience and assist with the closing process.
  • Work on-call rotations as scheduled on the weekends and follow protocols as outlined.
  • Act as liaison between the BSS and marketing team to facilitate the process.
  • Provide feedback on referrals and help to monitor relationships.
  • Gain an understanding of the Newtek business model and services offered across all business lines.
