About The Position

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is hiring three Associate Behavioral and Mental Health Therapist to start in summer of 2026. Associate Therapists will be a part of cohort of Associate Therapists that are supported through the Advancing the Delivery of Evidence-Based Psychotherapy for Youth (ADEPT) initiative. Associate Therapists must be licensed as a LAPC or LMSW in Georgia and credentialed through the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta prior to starting. We have a preference for associate therapists early in their full licensure (LCSW, LPC) journey (less than 33% of direct clinical hours accrued) to allow for adequate training and experience within our system. About the Opportunity Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s) is seeking a collaborative leader with a strong clinical foundation to serve as a Therapist with Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health (BMH) services. Outpatient Clinic Children’s is working to combat the stigma related to behavioral and mental health while also ensuring our most vulnerable patients receive access to services that will improve their quality of life and ability to thrive. The goal is to better serve this population of patients and increase the continuity of their care, moving towards a more connected model of “whole-child” care. As an Associate Behavioral and Mental Health Therapist with Children’s, the Therapist will participate in a model of care centered around integrated, multidisciplinary services, with seamless collaborations with psychiatry, psychology, social work, medical specialties, and other behavioral and mental health disciplines. • The Associate Therapist will be a part of an interdisciplinary Behavioral and Mental Health team. • The Associate Therapist will work to increase access for children presenting with BMH needs while integrating with experts across Children’s and in the community. • The Associate Therapist’s clinical caseload includes conducting intake evaluations, conducting weekly individual and group therapy, family therapy, and case management. • Participation in Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Children’s Care Network Activities (e.g., quality forum, quality improvement initiatives) that is required for practice to remain member in good standing. The Associate Behavioral and Mental Health Therapist will participate in a model of care centered around integrated, multidisciplinary services, with seamless collaborations with psychiatry, psychology, social work, medical specialties, and other behavioral and mental health disciplines.

Requirements

Supervised experience with providing intake evaluations and regularly scheduled therapy services for children and adolescents, received as part of a degree program
Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited university
Licensure as a Master's Social Worker, Associate Professional Counselor, or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Georgia
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association required
Ability to work as part of interdisciplinary team
Strong interpersonal skills with patients, teammate, and leadership
Knowledge of evidence-based, age-appropriate treatment and practice
Ability to remain calm and manage verbal/physical responses in stressful situations
Flexibility to adapt to changes in behavioral mental programs and procedures
Developed cultural humility and ability to work with diverse populations
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

Experience with Unified protocol, CBT, ACT, DBT, TF-CBT, PCIT, and/or Solution-Focused Therapy
Experience working within a medical setting or behavioral mental health facility
Experience with children & adolescents with co-occurring medical issues

Responsibilities

Provide effective delivery of services (e.g., intake evaluations, therapy, and case management) under supervision appropriate to the patient’s specific needs and severity level of disability or impairment.
Gather and integrate information from all available sources to develop initial patient assessment and treatment plan.
Provide evidence-based and effective individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy under supervision.
Conduct crisis and safety planning with patients and coordinate transfers to higher levels of care under supervision.
Maintain a therapeutic relationship with patient and family.
Respect and incorporate aspects of patient’s and family’s identity in care.
Identify patient/family need for services from ancillary departments/programs and effectively communicate with team members to provide referral as necessary.
Include family/caregiver participation in all phases of the patient’s program while communicating at the patient/family level of understanding.
Communicate with support and operational staff effectively to ensure patient continuity of care.
Assess client satisfaction and improvement, participating in program evaluation as needed.
Generate flexible solutions to potential barriers in patient care to benefit patient.
Complete notes in electronic medical record within time guidelines, including diagnostic coding, screenings, and treatment plans and seeks appropriate supervision for billing.
Participate in team meetings and case consultations.
Seek out additional evidence-based training associated with role.
Actively participates while receiving supervision and implements feedback from supervising clinician.
