Creditor's Rights law firm seeking an individual to fill the Associate Attorney position for our Rhode Island practice. Licensure is required with admission to the Rhode Island. Reporting to the State Managing Attorney or designee, this position is responsible for attending court, signing pleadings, settling cases, and various other attorney tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of litigation and should welcome the challenges of a dynamic legal environment and be open to work-related travel. Must be energetic, self-directed, and capable of managing his or her own caseload. Responsibilities will include a wide variety of tasks associated with litigating debt collection matters. While litigation is the key role, we seek attorneys who can independently engage in risk analysis and develop strategies that adhere to state and federal rules and regulations, and compliance standards.

  • Reviews correspondence and files to determine if suit appropriate.
  • Reviews, answers, and prepares discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Manages all aspects of preparing for and conducting trials throughout the state.
  • Provide analysis and advises on legal and regulatory risks.
  • Represents clients in pre-suit and post-judgement matters including filing of post judgment remedies (attachment and garnishment).
  • Writes, reviews, and edits reports, opinions, correspondence, articles and other documents.
  • Handles counterclaims and self-defends lawsuits brought against the firm or our clients.
  • Develops a team through hiring, training, mentoring, coaching, and disciplining, as necessary.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Requires a JD in law and bar admission in Rhode Island.
  • 0-2 years’ experience as a general litigation attorney
  • Must have the ability to work independently.
  • Managing shifting priorities in a fast paced, results driven environment is required.
  • Must be able to develop talent, collaborate, and effectively communicate with all levels within an organization.
  • Experience in a creditors’ rights firm preferred.
  • Knowledge of Bankruptcy Law, Foreclosure Law and/or the FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA is preferred.
