The salary range of $120K - $160K is commensurate with experience for the 3 to 5 year attorney. OPPORTUNITY | Associate Attorney Our Chicago, IL office seeks a well-rounded and highly motivated Associate Attorney with at least 3-5 years of medical malpractice (nursing home experience preferred) defense experience. Must be licensed to practice Illinois courts. This is an exceptional opportunity to handle a variety of medical malpractice litigation matters for nationwide clients with a forward-thinking firm. Submission of writing sample solely authored by the candidate is required with resume to be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills
  • ability to move from case to case
  • knowledge of court procedures
  • proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and navigating the internet
  • at least 3-5 years of medical malpractice (nursing home experience preferred) defense experience
  • Must be licensed to practice Illinois courts

Responsibilities

  • draft, prepare, and handle pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda
  • draft and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions
  • conduct legal research competently and with proficiency
  • prepare and take depositions of parties and experts
  • review client documents, draft case evaluations, and status report correspondence
  • assist with and participate in mediations and court appearances
  • interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff
