About The Position

Frier Levitt, established in 2000, is a national boutique law firm focused exclusively on Healthcare and Life Sciences. The Firm draws on its experience representing stakeholders across the entire healthcare spectrum. In the Life Sciences, Frier Levitt has represented pharmacies of all kinds and assisted with regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters. On the Healthcare side, the Firm's clients have included large physician group practices, hospitals, hospital medical staff, ambulatory surgery centers, laboratory companies, as well as the complete panoply of ancillary service providers. Frier Levitt attorneys are licensed in numerous states. The Firm has offices in Pine Brook, New Jersey, and New York City. A Mid-Level Litigation Attorney for our Life Sciences team is sought for Frier Levitt's Pine Brook, NJ, office.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in healthcare or life sciences contracting and/or litigation, with direct PSAO and PBM experience strongly preferred (PSAO experience required for candidates at the lower end of the range)
• Must be willing to work in the Pine Brook, NJ , office a minimum of 3 days per week
• Admitted to practice in at least one US state
• Demonstrated experience performing the responsibilities outlined above
• Exceptional legal writing, oral advocacy, and research skills
• Strong listener and communicator
• Team-player mindset, and ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with a team of attorneys
• High degree of professional judgment and ownership

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate contracts between pharmacies or Pharmacy Services Administrative Organizations (PSAOs) and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs)
• Analyze drug benefit reimbursement rates and PBM network/plan terms
• Review, analyze, and index complex contracts in healthcare and life sciences setting
• Communicate with clients regarding factual investigations, case strategy, and matter status, including written analyses and status updates
• Draft pleadings, motions, and written discovery, including objections and responses
• Preparing deposition outlines and deposition exhibits
• Conducting and defending depositions of witnesses
• Prepare witness examinations, outlines, and exhibits for trials and hearings in court, arbitration, and before administrative agencies
• Argue motions and appear for hearings
• Appearing in court/arbitration for scheduling conferences and status conferences
• Interface with state boards and administrative agencies on regulatory and enforcement matters
• Developing strategies, drafting mediations statements, and appearing for mediations and settlement conferences
• Second-chair trials and final hearings in arbitration
