Duties Independently manage injury evaluation, treatment, and return-to-play planning for assigned teams. Collaborate with team physicians and medical personnel for injury management and medical clearances. Serve as primary athletic trainer for designated athletic programs, providing coverage for practices, games, and team travel. Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in compliance with university and regulatory requirements. Assist in budget planning, inventory management, and policy development as assigned. Reviews, implements and develops appropriate training and rehabilitation programs to minimize injury and maximize performance. Assesses performance level for release. Works closely with appropriate physician to determine required training measures for maximum rehabilitation. Develops sport specific warm up and cool down programs to ensure optimum preparation. Maintains all aspects of the athletic training room (i.e. cleanliness, order, functionality, and maintenance of equipment.) Implements prescribed rehabilitation treatment program through use of exercises and treatment modalities, e.g., heat, ice, whirlpool, and electrical stimulus to ensure optimum recovery; maintains inventory levels of appropriate medical supplies. Provides a broad range of administrative and supervisory functions. Mentors and supervises assigned staff (if applicable) & student workers in accordance with WNMU personnel practices including recruitment, training, internships, performance evaluation, guidance, etc. Participates in the process of ongoing personal and professional development. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external). Maintains files and records of all participating athletes. Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU philosophy. Performs other duties as assigned.
