About The Position

Smithers Cannabis Testing Services division is seeking applicants for a full-time Associate Analyst at our Phoenix, AZ location. Position Summary This is an Entry Level Laboratory Support Role. The Associate Analyst supports cannabis testing operations by performing essential laboratory tasks including sample intake, sample preparation, ancillary laboratory support activities, and basic data analysis for routine tests such as moisture content and water activity. This role ensures the accurate and efficient processing of samples in compliance with applicable state regulations, company SOPs, and quality standards. The Associate Analyst works closely with analysts and other team members to maintain workflow efficiency, sample integrity, and a clean, safe laboratory environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
  • Must meet the minimum legal age requirement to work with cannabis in the state of operation.
  • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory practices and safety protocols.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data entry.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and SOPs accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
  • Cannabis industry or regulated industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and log incoming samples, verifying documentation and labeling accuracy.
  • Prepare samples for analysis following SOPs and safety protocols.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests such as moisture content and water activity.
  • Conduct routine data entry and basic calculations for non-complex analyses.
  • Maintain accurate chain-of-custody and sample tracking records.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and other laboratory materials as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory inventory and restocking supplies.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory workspaces, glassware, and equipment.
  • Support analysts with non-technical tasks to facilitate laboratory workflow.
  • Follow all applicable state regulations and laboratory SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate records to meet regulatory and quality system requirements.
  • Adhere to safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
