An Associate Agricultural/Weights and Measures Inspector participates in a structured training program that typically includes rotations between both agricultural inspection and weights and measures inspection enforcement functions, in order to learn and develop proficiency in: Inspection procedures for fruits and vegetables and egg quality standards. Inspection techniques for plants and plant material for pest organisms. Inspection of produce cases, nursery stock, commodities, and other packaged goods weighing 25 lbs. or more. Pesticide use enforcement. Techniques and their application for the control and eradication of weeds and vertebrate pests on residential commercial and agricultural properties. Detection and eradication of exotic pests such as foreign insects. Inspection of commercial meters and scales for accuracy in retail markets and other commercial establishments. Preparation of written reports, inspection certificates, and citations or other notices of violations. Use of a variety of equipment such as refractometers, scales, graduated measures, hydrometers, and laptop and tablet computers. Safe and effective use of various tools and equipment utilized in any inspection, investigation, or enforcement activities that may be assigned. Application of a variety of mathematical formulae, including algebra, in inspection and enforcement activities.
