About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Troubadour Golf & Field Club, set outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Troubadour Golf & Field Club is seeking an Associate Accountant to join the Finance and Accounting Department. This person is motivated and detail-oriented and will contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred .
  • Experience: Entry-level position; prior internship or coursework in accounting or finance is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data handling. Ability to identify and correct errors.
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate with team members and other departments.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. Ability to adapt to changes in priorities or tasks.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger by recording journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, approval, and payment processing. Support the accounts receivable process by preparing and sending invoices, and monitoring collections.
  • Financial Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements. Assist in generating financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expense Management: Reconcile and analyze expenses, ensuring proper classification and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Audit Support: Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner. Monitor cash balances and report any issues or concerns.
  • Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls.
  • Financial Analysis: Support financial analysis by preparing variance reports and trend analyses. Assist in identifying areas for process improvement and efficiency.
