We are seeking an Associate Scientist I to join the Analytical Development group who is experienced and committed to developing and running mass spectrometry methods to support our AOC research and clinical programs. This is a hands-on position with responsibilities that require daily lab work, data analysis, and interpretation of data that will be shared with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders. The position will report to the mass spectrometry group leader and be a part of Avidity's growing CMC/Technical Operations team.

Requirements

• MS in chemistry, biology, or pharmaceutical sciences with at least 3 years of experience; or BS with at least 5 years of experience with mass spectrometry analysis of biologics.
• Knowledge of antibody and/or oligonucleotide analytical separation and mass spectrometry techniques.
• Prior experience with various laboratory techniques including LC-MS/MS, HPLC, and CE.
• Proven ability to thrive and enable success in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate constructive, expedient problem-solving.
• Ability to multi-task, manage conflict, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute mass spectrometry-based characterization studies to support comparability, process development, and formulation development.
• Generate high-quality analytical data and contribute to extended characterization reports and regulatory documentation for comparability studies.
• Apply and adapt advanced analytical techniques to address characterization challenges associated with AOCs, including conjugation heterogeneity, DAR distribution, PTMs, and degradation pathways.
• Design and perform experiments, analyze and interpret data, and recommend next steps such as assay optimization or additional follow-up studies.
• Accurately document experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks and author technical summaries and study reports.
• Present data and provide updates in team and CMC meetings.
• Ensure work is conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ICH), GMP principles (as applicable), and internal quality systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Analytical Development, Process Development, and Quality teams.
