Summary of Essential Functions Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Professional; provides personal care to patients in the hospital; ages infant to geriatric. Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Licenses and Certifications Certification as Nursing Assistant or equivalent desired. CPR Certification. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must be able to perform clerical responsibilities, patient care responsibilities and phlebotomy. Apply understandings to carry out written and oral instructions. Recognize problems and take reporting action based upon sound judgment. Reading and writing, speaking, and basic addition, subtraction skills required. Demonstrates proficiency in cognitive and psychomotor skills required for job performance. Exercises good time management skills and maintains productive use of time. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Physical Requirements Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Standing, walking for extensive periods of time. Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours. Some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
