About The Position

Want to help ensure Southwest’s aircraft are fueled safely, reliably, and efficiently across the network? As an Associate Fuel Operations Regional Manager, you will coordinate the planning of fuel operations activities and conduct spend and market analysis that informs regional fuel strategy. You will sustain essential operational oversight by managing supplier performance and leading strategy for storage facilities, maintenance and operations oversight, into‑plane services, and disruption mitigation. You will ensure continuity and accuracy across fuel operations by resolving issues quickly, aligning stakeholders, and managing supplier activities and invoice processing from end to end. This role plays a key part in maintaining reliable fueling operations that keep our network running smoothly. Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
  • Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, which does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
  • Into-plane fuel services, fuel storage maintenance and operations, fuel accounting, fuel purchasing, or fuel quality assurance/control
  • General accounting principles and SOX requirements
  • Analytical skills
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and/or lead fuel manual administration, fuel training program administration, and fuel supplier performance management
  • Conduct bids, negotiate, and contract for fuel -services for multiple locations throughout Southwest’s network
  • Assists in monitoring and measuring fuel service provider performance and in the resolution of problems; takes appropriate corrective action to ensure the safe and timely fueling of Southwest Airlines Aircraft
  • Assist with developing and driving strategy to effectively manage on and off-airport storage facilities, maintenance and operations (M&O) and into- plane service providers
  • Serve in a Leadership role and as subject matter expert in the industry by participating in airline fuel consortia as a representative of Southwest Airlines
  • Manage supplier communications and coordinate supplier demonstrations or product testing
  • Work to minimize negative impact of fuel disruptions by coordinating across FSCM and externally to achieve resolution
  • Effectively represent SWA interests in all settings; use effective influencing skills in dealing with internal/External Stakeholders
  • Ensures timely processing and payment of fuel service invoices
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
