About The Position

The Assistive Technology Specialist ( ATS ) will develop, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate assistive technology related services for students with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Computer Information Services, Educational Technology, Special Education or related discipline, and two years of experience working with students with disabilities, or Bachelor’s degree and four years experience.
  • Ability to manage numerous complex assignments and meet required deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with current technology including but not limited to: Read&Write, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Mac & PC Platforms, JAWS , TextHelp, Zoomtext, OCR , BrailleNote, remote captioning, and Canvas.
  • Experience supporting college students with assistive technology.
  • Experience reviewing clinical documentation in order to determine assistive technology needs and use by students.
  • Familiarity with Braille production, Braille translation software, and maintenance of Braille embossers.
  • Experience with Office 365 products.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility and usability standards including WCAG 2.0.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding disability access and compliance, including but not limited to Section 508 of the ADA .
