Bliffert Lumber – Portage, WI Job Title: Assistant Yard Foreman Qualifications Leadership and Management: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, delegate tasks, and resolve conflicts Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, customers, and suppliers Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain an organized work environment Product Knowledge: Understanding of lumber and building materials, their properties, and applications, including dimensions, grades, and uses Safety Awareness: Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a lumber yard environment Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to inventory, safety, and operations Responsibilities Inventory Management: Overseeing the receiving, storage, and dispatch of lumber and building materials, maintaining accurate inventory records, and minimizing waste Staff Management: Supervising yard staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and fostering a positive work environment Customer Service: Assisting customers with product selection, providing information, and ensuring a positive customer experience Safety and Compliance: Enforcing safety regulations, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment, and investigating incidents Operational Efficiency: Optimizing workflow, managing equipment maintenance, and identifying areas for process improvement Delivery Coordination: Overseeing the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring accurate order fulfillment, and coordinating deliveries Financial Responsibilities: May be involved in generating purchase orders, managing budgets, and tracking inventory costs Collaboration: Working closely with sales staff, delivery teams, and suppliers to ensure timely order fulfillment.
