About The Position

The Assistant Woodworker is responsible for maintaining and restoring all wooden furniture and fixtures across the property, with a special focus on outdoor pieces. This position plays a key role in upholding the hotel’s aesthetic standards by ensuring that every wooden surface reflects the brand’s commitment to luxury, detail, and quality craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • Perform all assigned tasks following strict safety procedures and hotel policies.
  • Ability to work on ladders or elevated platforms for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Quick learner with the ability to absorb training efficiently and follow detailed instructions.
  • Physically capable of performing duties involving frequent lifting, climbing, balancing, walking, stretching, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and an eye for quality finishes.
  • Basic knowledge of woodworking tools, finishing materials, and safety practices.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor consistent with a luxury hotel environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and restore all outdoor wooden furniture and decorative elements to the highest standards of appearance and durability.
  • Use appropriate chemicals, strippers, and tools to safely remove existing varnish, paint, or finishes.
  • Perform staining, varnishing, painting, detailing, and upholstery reattachment for wooden furniture and fixtures.
  • Add finishing touches, including polishing and buffing, to restore and enhance the natural luster of wood surfaces.
  • Disassemble items as needed for refinishing or repair using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Fill and smooth cracks, depressions, and imperfections using wood putty, glue, nails, screws, and related materials.
  • Mix and apply finish ingredients to achieve desired colors, shades, and finishes that align with the hotel’s design palette.
  • Remove old or damaged finishes and parts using sandpaper, abrasives, solvents, steel wool, or stripping tools.
  • Clean and prepare all surfaces properly prior to applying new finishes or coatings.
  • Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Engineering and Housekeeping teams to address repair and maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
