We are looking for a motivated Assistant Weekend Shift Manager to join our state-of-the-art freeze drying facility in Allentown, PA! In this role, you will be directly responsible for the safe, efficient production of high-quality, fresh, human-grade pet food by overseeing the production area from a technical and operational standpoint.

Requirements

  • Experience working with ERP/WMS systems
  • Experience with lean manufacturing
  • Ability to manage employees cross-functionally – Production, warehouse, and quality
  • Ability to make quick decisions that align with company objectives
  • Experience working in a GMP facility with Food safety knowledge is preferred
  • High school diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual not required but preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Production manufacturing optimization and standardization - this involves creating written processes, JSA's, SOP's, Parity guides, etc. to standardize operations across both weekday and weekend shifts. The purpose is to identify the best practices throughout each functional area and make sure those are well-documented for training.
  • Ability to coordinate with and support the Weekend Shift Manager across all responsibilities
  • Ensure all GMP’s are followed and PPE is worn correctly
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve hurdles or issues to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Supports and maintains process improvements to boost efficiency and productivity in each room.
  • Able to analyze root cause of inefficiencies or missed targets according to KPI’s using time studies, paredo charts, etc. and build actionable solutions.
  • Review and correct inventory and work order discrepancies.
  • Complete daily shift reports and email them to the appropriate parties.
  • Collaborate with plant management to align with strategic goals.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of ownership for product quality and food safety through accurate records of QC checks, Production reports, and inventory.
  • Support cross-functional cooperation with Maintenance, Quality, and Logistics, including functioning as the first line of communication when issues arise and utilizing in-depth knowledge to clearly communicate issues and requirements to various departments to expedite resolution of the issue.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures
  • Train and mentor new team members, able to hold and create job assignment duties as needed.
  • Address any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the shift
