About The Position

Providing legal support to the State Street Global Markets business is a challenging, and highly visible role within the legal department. The role is located in Boston and qualifications include: JD degree from an accredited law school 3+ years of legal experience Team player who is open to strong collaboration with other team members Why this role is important to us The person filling this role will provide legal counsel on regulatory, transactional, and operational matters related to our OTC derivatives business, with a particular focus on FX, interest rate and equity derivatives.

Requirements

  • JD degree from an accredited law school
  • 3+ years of legal experience
  • Team player who is open to strong collaboration with other team members
  • Results oriented with strong project management and execution skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with ability to sustain strong relationships with clients, peers and staff
  • Ability to interact with multiple levels in an organization and in multiple jurisdictions
  • Keen understanding of market practice impacting the business lines in the relevant jurisdictions and ability to work with business units to achieve practical solutions within applicable regulatory and risk parameters
  • Strong time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently but also thrive in a global, dynamic and team-oriented environment
  • Flexibility and an eagerness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support for the firm's OTC derivatives business, specializing in FX, interest rate and equity derivatives
  • Draft, review, and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, and other derivatives documentation
  • Advise on CFTC and SEC regulations, applicable bank regulation, Dodd-Frank compliance, and other applicable regulatory requirements for swap dealers
  • Support new product development by identifying and addressing legal and regulatory considerations
  • Collaborate with business, operations, and compliance teams to ensure regulatory compliance in trading activities
  • Monitor regulatory developments and provide strategic advice on implementation of new regulations
  • Represent the firm in industry groups and regulatory discussions
  • Manage relationships with external counsel on complex matters
  • Provide training to business units on relevant legal and regulatory issues
