About The Position

The Department of Counseling and Human Services in the College of Education at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a non-tenure track, full-time Instructor position in the CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling programs. Preferred candidates will hold a Master’s Degree or higher with training and experience with undergraduate students and remote or distance delivery of instruction; (4/4 teaching load; undergraduate courses in human services and summer teaching are also available); maintaining an advising caseload of graduate and undergraduate students; supervising practicum and internship students; and providing service to support the department, college, and university (when relevant).

Requirements

  • Must have a Master’s Degree from a CACREP-Accredited Institution OR earned Doctoral Degree from a CACREP-Accredited Institution
  • Ideal candidate is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado, or are license-eligible in Colorado

Nice To Haves

  • ABD and/or currently enrolled in a CACREP accredited Ph.D. program
  • Experience with undergraduate students is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in counseling and human services using trauma-informed, inclusive, and culturally responsive pedagogies.
  • Employ evidence-based instructional strategies that support diverse learners and integrate real-world application of course concepts.
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons across multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.
  • Use educational technologies and digital platforms to enhance accessibility, interactivity, and student learning outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty in curriculum design, course alignment, and co-teaching opportunities that model interdisciplinary, team-based approaches to human services education.
  • Ensure course content reflects current practices and licensure competencies..
  • Provide student-centered academic advising and career mentorship.
  • Support students’ personal and professional development, including readiness for fieldwork, licensure pathways, and ethical practice in trauma-informed care settings.
  • Participate in departmental governance, accreditation efforts, student recruitment, and program assessment.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local agencies and community organizations to support practicum/internship placements, service-learning opportunities, and community-informed teaching.
