About The Position

The Curators of the University of Missouri and Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice invites applications for one full-time non-tenure track position at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank. There is a promotion process for the position. The standard teaching load for this position is eight courses per year (including summer opportunities). The ideal candidate will also serve as coordinator for the department's undergraduate program, which comes with a potential teaching reduction. The appointment will begin in August 2026. Strong candidates teaching in all substantive areas will be considered, including but not limited to crime, law, and deviance; research methods and statistics; crime and justice processes; and punishment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in criminology or a closely-related field at the time of appointment
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness commensurate with experience
  • Evidence of scholarly research potential commensurate with experience
  • Evidence of potential for academic program administration

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses
  • Mentor doctoral students teaching for the first time and part-time faculty
  • Coordinate undergraduate academic program
  • Be actively involved in the department, university, and field through service
