About The Position

The Department of Forensic Science at Loyola University Maryland (LUM) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position as an Assistant Teaching Professor, beginning in August 2026. We are looking for a candidate committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education at a dynamic liberal arts university. The search committee seeks outstanding candidates who demonstrate the ability to teach foundational courses in our undergraduate and graduate forensic science programs. The successful candidate will teach four courses per term, including Introduction to Forensic Science and/or the Scientific Basis of Forensic Investigation, with the possibility of teaching upper-division classes. Candidates who can contribute courses related to pattern evidence, criminalistics, quality assurance/quality control, forensic ecological evidence, crime scene investigation and/or serology will receive special consideration. The successful candidate should possess an awareness of and interest in high impact practices in line with the mission of Jesuit higher education. Faculty development opportunities are also available. Our department offers a B.A. and B.S. in Forensic Science, a M.S. in Forensic Pattern Analysis, a M.S. in Biological Forensics as well as an interdisciplinary minor in Forensic Science. The Baltimore/Washington corridor is home to many governmental and private institutions that offer opportunities for collaboration in forensic science including ATF, NIST, FBI, NSA, Homeland Security, US Secret Service, Maryland State Police Forensic Unit, Baltimore Police Forensic Division and Baltimore County Police Forensic Services. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of a one-year reappointment. Reappointment may include the possibility of teaching other courses currently offered in the department, depending upon department need and student demand; service duties, like student advising and mentoring student capstone projects; and other opportunities.
