About The Position

The Department of Graphic Design and Industrial Design (ID) at NC State University's College of Design offers undergraduate and graduate programs in both Graphic and Experience Design (GXD) and Industrial Design (ID). The College of Design also includes programs in Architecture, Media Arts, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, and a doctoral program in design. Known for its selective admissions process, the College attracts high-achieving students and boasts consistently high graduation rates. The Bachelor of Graphic and Experience Design (BGXD) and Master of Graphic and Experience Design (MGXD) programs integrate user experience and user interface design (UX/UI) with core graphic design principles such as branding, typography, and service design. Students develop interfaces, digital products, brands, and experiential environments, grounded in human-centered research methodologies to ensure a focus on user needs and desires. Our alumni have established successful careers at leading software companies and design firms, including IBM, Red Hat, SAS, Lenovo, Citrix, IQVIA, Pentagram, IDEO, Willowtree, and R/GA. Recent MGXD graduates have also transitioned into faculty positions at prominent research universities such as Virginia Tech, University of Arkansas, The Ohio State University, University of Illinois, University of Florida, and Boise State.
