About The Position

The University of Wisconsin–Green Bay invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Human Biology (Microbiology) to join an interdisciplinary academic unit known for preparing students for impactful careers in the health professions. Requirements

  • Earned Master’s degree (or higher) in Microbiology or related field (e.g., Immunology, Mycology, Parasitology, Medical Mycology) by the beginning date of appointment is required
  • The successful candidate must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, commitment to undergraduate education, and communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues
  • Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years, although tenure decisions may be at any time.
  • Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure.
  • Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity, and institutional service required for retention and promotion.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of college teaching experience is preferred
  • PhD in Microbiology is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a course load of 27 credits (~9 courses) per academic year in Microbiology with opportunities to teach other courses in the Human Biology program.
  • Service responsibilities include advising and mentoring students and contributing to departmental and institutional development.
  • Additional teaching assignments could include introductory and upper-level lecture and laboratory courses (e.g., Medical Microbiology, Medical Mycology, Parasitology, Immunology). in Human Biology.
