The School of Education (SOE) in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a teaching faculty position in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Literacy at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor with a start date of August 24, 2026. This is a 2-year full-time term faculty position with the possibility for renewal and carries a four course per semester teaching load. Renewal parameters are determined by performance and school need. We seek a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic colleague who can support the development of pre-service elementary literacy teachers. The successful candidate should demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to evidence-based reading and writing methodology, and experience with Science of Reading and professional literacy standards such as Common Core ELA and NCTE. Specifically, we are looking for a faculty colleague to: (a) teach undergraduate methods courses in elementary literacy; (b) teach other courses in our elementary education program such as undergraduate Foundations of Education courses (EDUC 2050);and (c) participate in School of Education service, including curriculum review/development, program and school-level meetings and committees.
