About The Position

The Communication and Information Science departments at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seek applicants for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Visual Communication and Production. The successful applicant will contribute to a vibrant, multidisciplinary academic unit with a rapidly growing student population that also oversees the cutting-edge Media Hub on the UW–Green Bay campus. The Hub offers professional-grade labs and studios that support a variety of student media, including an award-winning online radio station, Radio GBX, the streaming video production outfit TV GBX, multi-platform student journalism through the Fourth Estate, and online game streaming and studies as part of the Center for Games and Interactive Media. The department also boasts award-winning faculty and emphases in Health Communication, Organizational Communication, and Public Relations, as well as Sports Communication and Mass Media. The department is also part of the interdisciplinary Media Arts and Production major, collaborating with English, Theater, and other programs to develop well-rounded media professionals. This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven, inclusive teaching efforts and creating and maintaining an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds. The position will report to the chair of the UW-Green Bay Communication Department.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in visual communication, media studies, or related field
  • Experience with the Adobe Production Suite
  • Experience in motion graphics, graphic design, web design, video production, and photography

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with motion and animation software like After Effects, Cinema 4D, and Blender
  • Experience in animation and 3D modeling
  • Experience in podcast development, production, and distribution
  • Experience in producing content for social media

Responsibilities

  • Foster collaborative efforts between the Communication and Information Science Department and the campus community, as well as the outside community
  • Teach a full load of lower- and upper-level courses (both online and in person) in visual communication, visual design, and video production
  • Assist in the operation and usage of the Media Hub, particularly TV GBX
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Implement inclusive instructional strategies to increase support for students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds at UW-Green Bay
