About The Position

The Assistant Swim Team Coach is responsible for assisting and implementing recreation activities and providing supervision for participants within the guidelines of DPRD. The Assistant Swim Team Coach is an integral team member overseeing administrative tasks and programs and assists other Parks and Recreation staff. Work involves extensive public contact working knowledge of department procedures and overall City Operations. Recruits community members to participate in new and ongoing programs. Responds to all inquiries and complaints or refer to the appropriate person Effectively manages self through the independent initiation and accomplishment of tasks. Provides supervision for facility and appearance, including light janitorial duties such as sweeping and cleaning restrooms and other areas. Enforces program rules and supervises program areas. Assists the Swim Team Coach with implementing practice plans for the instructional league, beginner, intermediate, and advanced swim team members. Responsible for the supervision and coordination of swim teams and swim meets.

Requirements

  • Previous experience developing and managing a swim team, recreation, or aquatic program.
  • Ability to complete multiple assignments under deadline conditions in a dynamic office environment. Ability to handle citizens, personnel, and the public professionally and politely. Ability to attend additional training as assigned.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must obtain a valid State of Georgia driver's license (Non-commercial Class A or B) with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, work reference check, pre-employment post-offer physical and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • American Red Cross WSI (Water Safety Instructor), CPR, and First Aid is preferred.
  • Previous experience dealing with the public is preferred, such as developing and implementing aquatic programming and/or coaching a swim team.
