About The Position

The Assistant Swim Team Coach supports the Head Swim Team Coach in developing and leading the Northampton Country Club (NCC) Swim Team. This role involves assisting in planning practices, coaching swimmers, supporting meet operations, and fostering a fun, safe, and competitive swim environment.

Requirements

Previous experience as a swimmer or in a coaching role preferred.
Strong knowledge of swim strokes and techniques.
Must be dependable, energetic, and enjoy working with children.
Certification in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and meet days.

Responsibilities

Assist in conducting structured swim practices focused on skill development, proper technique, and endurance training.
Support the Head Coach in organizing and running swim meets, including set-up, athlete coordination, and event logistics.
Provide individual attention and constructive feedback to swimmers to encourage growth and confidence.
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude among swimmers.
Help maintain open communication with swimmers, parents, and staff about schedules, expectations, and team updates.
Supervise swimmers to ensure safety and adherence to pool and club guidelines.
Assist with monitoring swimmer attendance, performance, and progression throughout the season.
Support recruitment and engagement of team members to build program participation.
Collaborate with other coaches and staff to ensure consistency in training methods and team messaging.
Maintain and organize swim equipment and team gear as needed.
