About The Position

This position is responsible for providing support to the Superintendent and Project Managers in the successful completion of assigned projects. The Assistant Superintendent participates in overseeing job site safety, quality, project scheduling, and communications with the architect and consultants on field and constructability issues.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret all design drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient understanding of all aspects of the scheduling process.
  • Ability to understand and implement work scopes for every trade category on the project.
  • Proficient computer skills are necessary to work on the company or owner-required construction software platform.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, owners, subcontractors, and vendors individually or in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Able to work additional hours to include weekends if needed.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) plus years of related construction experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clear MVR.
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
  • Regularly sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • Regularly climb stairs or ladders, etc.
  • Regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
  • Able to push/pull 80+ lbs.
  • Able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
  • Able to safely operate a personal and/or company motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Sciences is preferred; and/or extensive experience in the construction industry (7 years) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Superintendent with managing job site safety, quality, and schedule for assigned projects from pre-construction to closeout
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships and communication with client, construction manager, project team, consultants/architect/engineers, subcontractors, adjacent community, governmental agencies.
  • Ensure JFC standards of quality and safety are adhered to by assertively championing JFC safety culture to the project team and subcontractors.
  • Perform daily job site walks and submit daily safety audit reports.
  • Conduct and/or attend meetings, pre-task meetings, safety meetings, and project staff meetings.
  • Assist and work collaboratively with Project Manager, project team members, field employees, owners, subcontractors, vendors, and anyone else necessary for the successful operation of the construction process.
  • Assist with setting up job site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule.
  • Review all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with building inspections, subcontractor inspections, and agencies.
  • Assist with the management of job site labor production and performance.
  • Maintain and update project records.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all on-site compliance with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and company policies.
  • Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
  • Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
