About The Position

By working with the leadership in the district, the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning is responsible for providing general oversight and ensuring consistency of all academic functions district wide in an effort to fulfill the mission of Zionsville Community Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the successful implementation of teaching and learning in ZCS.
  • Lead and delegate as appropriate the personnel and tasks associated with teaching and learning in ZCS.
  • Provide leadership for innovative curricular/instructional program development.
  • Provide leadership of academic program review, update, coordination, articulation and enhancement.
  • Provide direction and supervision over the various areas such as curriculum, assessment, professional development, student services, and strategic planning.
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal integration of subject matter district wide by working closely with building leaders.
  • Ensure fidelity and alignment with governmental and local standards.
  • Facilitate creative changes in educational programming, processes, and procedures.
  • Review and investigate all academic challenges to the content and material of the curriculum.
  • Administer the corporation's high ability program including but not limited to reviewing, establishing and communicating and upholding eligibility/continuation requirements for students entering or exiting the program, monitoring student progress by analyzing student data and reporting results as requested by the Superintendent.
  • Provide appropriate recommendations to the Board of School Trustees regarding new curricular resources and/or instructional materials as needed.
  • Ensure the fidelity and security of test administration including but not limited to training building level testing administrators, analyzing and communicating results and remaining in compliance with Board policy as well as state and federal laws.
  • Participate in the collection of student data in collaboration with the Technology Department and provide analysis to the executive team, building leaders, or individual teachers as needed.
  • Provide leadership to maintain academic progress in the areas of attendance, grades, and graduation.
  • Administer the Zionsville Teacher Evaluation Process throughout the district including but not limited to training building leaders to appropriately complete certified evaluations in a timely manner, managing special circumstances as it relates to any evaluation adjustments and maintaining the evaluation software program in collaboration with the Technology Department.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and protocols for the corporation's professional development program and process.
  • Provide leadership, direction, protocols and approval process for professional development requests district wide.
  • Collaborate with the Data Specialists to ensure current software is being utilized effectively to track professional development as it occurs in real time and provide recommendations to gain efficiencies and/or training as appropriate to building leaders and staff members.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of online and alternative learning format courses.
  • Devise comprehensive and effective systems of record keeping in accordance with the needs of the district office programs and the policies, regulations and laws affecting those programs.
