About The Position

The Digital Teaching and Learning Coach is a career-status, certified teaching professional with strong instructional and leadership skills. Drawing on recent classroom experiences, this role supports all teachers in integrating technology to enhance instruction, planning, and student engagement. The coach serves as an expert resource and collaborative partner, promoting effective digital teaching practices through modeling, professional development, and hands-on support aligned with district goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and North Carolina teaching license required (elementary or secondary)
  • Minimum five (5) years of teaching experience
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Familiarity with basic computer operations and software.
  • Ability to learn various computer operations required for the management of student information and the integration of technology in classroom instruction.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on the division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; skill in oral and written communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid North Carolina 077 (Instructional Technology Specialist – Computers) or 079 (Computer Education) license preferred.
  • Valid 076 (School Library Media Coordinator) license and five years of media experience would also be considered preferable qualifications.
  • A Master's Degree in Education is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and mentoring to teachers through planning, collaboration, modeling, and instructional support to strengthen technology integration aligned to school and district goals.
  • Facilitates professional development and coaching related to research-based instructional technology strategies, the North Carolina Digital Learning Standards, and the district’s strategic plan.
  • Demonstrates effective use of digital tools, all content-specific resources, learning management systems, and other educational technologies to enhance planning, teaching, and assessment.
  • Establishes, maintains, and enhances effective communication with administrators, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Assists in evaluating and vetting digital resources to ensure alignment with curriculum standards, district privacy policies, and instructional goals.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with administrators, teachers, and stakeholders to ensure consistent support and shared understanding of digital teaching practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support digital teaching and learning and contribute to improved student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with school and district staff to foster a culture of effective instruction through the integration of digital tools and practices.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate ongoing professional development aligned with curriculum maps, district resources, and the North Carolina Digital Learning Standards.
  • Lead Coaching Observe instruction and provide timely, actionable feedback to teachers and coaches on lesson design, instructional delivery, and student engagement.
  • Support the implementation of technology-enhanced strategies that align with curriculum standards and district initiatives.
  • Serve as a thought partner for school-based coaches, media coordinators, and administrators to strengthen instructional practices through digital learning.
  • Supports teachers during PLCs, grade-level meetings, and co-planning sessions by recommending appropriate standards-aligned tools, content, and resources.
  • Participates in state and district professional learning opportunities and shares relevant updates to ensure instructional practices remain current and effective.
  • Customize professional learning to meet the needs of educators at varying levels of digital fluency, using face-to-face, virtual, and blended formats.
  • Provides job-embedded coaching, including classroom observations with follow-up support, co-teaching, and modeling of technology-infused lessons.
  • Assist in the review, evaluation, and selection of instructional technology tools, software, and resources, including those mandated by state law or the School Board.
  • Collaborate with content specialists to maintain and refine curriculum maps and digital resource alignment throughout the year.
  • Serve as a consultant to schools and departments regarding technology integration, digital resource implementation, and instructional support.
  • Establish clear communication protocols and schedules for sharing district instructional technology updates and reports.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with teachers and focus groups to support new district-wide instructional initiatives.
  • Attend required district, school, and state-level meetings to remain informed and share relevant updates.
  • Perform other duties related to supporting effective instruction and student learning as assigned.
